IS JESUS CREATED?

A. INTRODUCTION

Jesus who is often called Christ is one of the most disputed figures. In the Christian scriptures, Jesus is portrayed as a Person of God. On the other hand, Jesus was also born by a human being the virgin Mary. It shows as if Jesus is a creation just like any other human being who was born. The Bible tells us that Jesus was born by a virgin but it was a terrible event. He was not born out of male desires, he was conceived of the Holy Spirit and his birth, life and death were already prophesied in the books of Moses and the prophets (Matt 26: 56, Luke 24:27, 44, John 1:45, 5:46).

Another religion, does not recognize Jesus as God. He is only human like other prophets. He is only a prophet and no more than a teacher. To them, He is also the messenger of God and man created for God's plan, for them it is impossible for God to be begotten.

B. DISCUSSION

In the field of theology, the science of Christian theology centered on the Bible, which introduces Jesus or Christ is called Christology. In this area the attributes of Jesus, nature, existence and His status will be discussed. But to discuss all these things, it will take a long time. So, in this paper will be more devoted to discuss about whether Jesus was created?

I. Is that a creation?

If we discuss the word "creation" then it can not be separated from "creator" and "creation." Creation is the work of someone. The work done in order for creation to exist is to create. The person who created is called the creator. So, obviously if one is created then there must be a creator and the creator is called the creator if there is already a creation.

In the Old Testament and the New Testament, the so-called Creator is God. The book of Genesis states that God is the Creator, He created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. In Romans 11:36 it says, for everything is from him and by him to him. To Him be glory forever forever. That is, God is the Creator, the creation is by Him and all that He created for Him. Thus, the Creator is God. God who is in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament.

Genesis tells us that God creates all things, but when it comes to creating man, God seems to be discussing with another Person (Genesis 1: 26). In Hebrew, the case is also plural (elohim; im = plural). Then it shows as if God looks more than one or plural. Who is God's person to communicate with? Is there any other creature besides Him there? Is that an angel? If it's an angel, it will feel awkward, angels create humans because basically, angels are God's messengers. Well, who is he?

In another case in the New Testament, there is a Person who is sent into the world, the Person is called the Son of God, the prophet, the teacher, others who say that the Person is Christ, the Messiah and others. His mode of birth, his life, his ministry, his death was also prophesied hundreds of years before his earthly existence. This suggests that Jesus is a special person and distinct from other creations of God. He can also perform various miracles such as healing the sick (every kind of pain), disability He also heal, cast out demons, regulate nature (body and taufan submissive to it), walk on water, multiply food, forgive sins even raise the dead. Not only did He raise the dead but He also rose from the dead and appeared to the apostles, disciples and people for forty days (Acts 1: 3). Everything he does is characterizing the nature of God. Not a single human being or creation can perform miracles as Jesus did in the Gospels. This raises many pros and cons about Jesus. Well, who is he? Is he a man who is also a creation? Or God incarnate to be human?

II. Is Jesus Creation and Created?

In this section we will discuss whether Jesus is created or created. As written by the Synoptic Gospels that Jesus was born by the virgin Mary in Bethlehem in the land of Judea. He is the descendant of David. He was born not of the fleshly relationship between man and woman, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary (Luke 1:35) even when He was born, the wise men and the shepherds came bowing to Him and bringing offerings (Matt 2: 1-12, Luke 2: 8-20). His life has also been written centuries ago in the Old Testament (Matthew 26:56, Luke 24:27, 44, John 1:45, 5:46). Jesus also firmly declared that everything that happens to Him is the fulfillment of the Old Testament books (Matthew 26:56). This is confirmed also by the book of Matthew in which every line of Jesus' life, Matthew always writes, "it is fulfilled" (Mt 1:22; 2:15; 17; 23; 4:14; 8:17; 12:17; 13 : 14, 35; 21: 4; 27: 9). "It is written to introduce the predicted Jesus in the books of the Old Testament. So this Word of God proves that the existence of Jesus in this world is not arbitrary. But it has a special purpose for all creation in which His coming into the world has been planned. Is there a created or created being experiencing something like this in His birth?

The Gospel of John records that the existence of Jesus who is the Word has been around since the beginning (ἀρχῇ = arkhe, in Greek). Not only its existence from the beginning but, He is also God and is already with God the Father. Everything is made by Him and without Him nothing is made of everything that has been made. (John 1: 3). The verse clearly states that Jesus is God who is the Creator, not the creation. If we notice that this is John. The disciple of Jesus who is with Him, so this paper is valid. This is the clear Word of God, which states who Jesus is, the existence of Jesus and His relationship with God the Father.

The book of John also demonstrates the glorious Jesus in his book. The glory belonging only to the God of Yahweh in the Old Testament. Moreover, the use of the word ego eimi (ἐγώ εἰμι) is used seven times. If we look at the Septuagint, it is used by the author for the God of Yahweh in the Old Testament when introducing and revealing Himself to Moses (Exodus 3:14). From this it can be seen that the Apostle John wanted to directly introduce Jesus whose divine nature is Yahweh, where Yahweh is God and Jesus has that nature or Jesus is God Himself.

Furthermore, in Paul's letters such a thing can also be found. In Colossians 1: 15-22, it is said that Jesus is the image of the invisible God, above all that is created because in Him all things created in heaven and on earth are visible and invisible, both throne, or kingdom, both government and ruler; everything is created by Him and for Him. He is before all things and all things are in him. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the firstborn, the firstborn from the dead, so He is the first in all things. For all the fullness of God is pleased to dwell in him, and by Him he reconciles all things with Himself, whether on earth or in heaven, after having made atonement by the blood of the cross of Christ. Also you who formerly lived away from God and who were hostile to Him in hearts and minds as evidenced from your evil deeds, now reconciled, in the body of Christ by His death, to place you holy and blameless and flawless in his presence. In this passage there are some things that are clearly and unambiguously stated: First, Jesus is the image of God, the fullness of God is in Him, meaning that He is God. Second, He is more than created. This does not mean that He was created, but He is more glorious than all creation. Third, His existence has existed for a long time or since eternity or arche. Fourth, everything is in Him and because of Him. Fifth, He is the Peacemaker, a Redeemer who reconciles everything with Himself whether on earth or in Heaven. So from the letter of Colossians 1: 15-22, it says that Jesus was not created but that Jesus is the Creator.

In another letter of Hebrew it is also stated that by Jesus, God has made the universe. Jesus is the light of glory and the image of God's being and sustains everything that exists with His Word with power (Heb. 1: 2b-3). From this passage it is clearly stated that Jesus is not a creation, Jesus is the image and form of God Himself, He sustains everything. It means that He who governs all creation, means He is the Creator.

John also in his letter (1 John 5:20), "But we know that the Son of God has come and has granted us understanding, that we might know the Righteous; and we are in the True, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life ". This verse states emphatically that Jesus is not a creation but a Creator or God. He is the true God and His life is eternal.

Not only that, in each of its doxology, the Apostle Paul also states that Jesus is God. Rom. 9: 5b, "He is the God who is to be praised forever. Amen !, It is still debatable, the docksology is dependent and independent. However, if we note the use of grammar as written by the Roman theologian C. E. B Cranfield, the phrase is a dependent (dependent) docsology. So the doxology is for Jesus who is God who is to be praised forever. From this we realize that if Jesus is God, He is not created Creator.

Based on these biblical facts from the Old Testament to the New Testament declare that Jesus is not a creation or Jesus was not created but He is the Creator, He is God. In the Christian faith, he is the second personal God, the Son of God, who has existed from the beginning and the beginning everlasting.

C. CONCLUSION

Jesus is not a creation, the Bible stands firmly and clearly that Jesus was not created, instead he was the Creator. If there are written things that make it appear as if Jesus were created, it is not claiming that Jesus was created. Yet it is all written to express how noble God is and the unthinkable ways of God in the history of Creation. They are also written to fulfill God's prophecy of the promise of salvation that is in the Old Testament through Jesus Christ. Therefore, Jesus is not created. He is the Creator.
